The Al Blades Jr. selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 45 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.

Spending an early pick on safety with quarterback, wide receiver and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Lassiter steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In pick 25 they get a premier pass rusher, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 26
They let Kamari Lassiter come to them and pounced at the 41st pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 66
They paid a round early for Javon Bullard in Round 2, Pick 25, more than the board wanted. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 78
A tidy bit of business in No. 88, where Cooper Beebe graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 107
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Jaden Hicks while clear needs at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 131
Cedric Gray at pick No. 125 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 154
Jaylen Wright at the 135th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Omar Speights · LB · rank 201
Omar Speights in the 203rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Zion Logue · DL · rank 241
Zion Logue in Round 6, Pick 42 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Jase McClellan · RB · rank 209
Nice patience on Jase McClellan, who had no business lasting to pick No. 219. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Al Blades Jr. · CB · rank 291
Al Blades Jr. at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
