The trade table was a mismatch, and the Packers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
They are betting Jackson Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Abney II that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Keith Abney II, who had no business lasting to pick No. 52. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Darrell Jackson Jr. this early at the 86th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Logan Jones in the 101st pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Skyler Gill-Howard at Round 5, Pick 20 is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jadon Canady at slot 201 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Lander Barton at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
