You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Trevin Wallace at the Round 6 slot, roughly 31 spots before his name belonged. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They banked enough surplus on All to cover a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Jonathon Brooks at pick No. 41 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Edgerrin Cooper in slot 58. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Jonah Elliss in the 88th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Andru Phillips at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Christian Jones went about where he belonged in the 126th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Malik Mustapha at the 169th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trevin Wallace in the Round 6 slot, miles early. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They read the board right and Erick All was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 44. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
