Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent the 243rd pick on Jalen Sundell, a name the board had a full 44 spots lower. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Owens steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Jackson Powers-Johnson went about where he belonged in No. 25. The roster fit checks out.
Edgerrin Cooper in slot 41 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jaylen Wright at the Round 2 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marshawn Kneeland. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Cole Bishop in the 91st pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Johnny Wilson in pick 127 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Jarrian Jones still on the board at the 168th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Elijah Jones at Round 6, Pick 29. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Garret Greenfield at the 216th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Jalen Sundell in slot 243, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Tyler Owens at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
