The one they had to fix is still broken. The Chiefs left tight end untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
Jenkins has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A reach on Kris Jenkins in the Round 1 slot; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach for Cooper Beebe in Round 2, Pick 32; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Khyree Jackson in slot 95 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Luke McCaffrey at pick No. 133 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 160th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
LaDarius Henderson in pick 172 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid a round early for Blake Watson in No. 240, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
