The tape said wait; the Chiefs did not. Tylan Grable went at the 172nd overall pick, a good 109 picks before the board was ready. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at tight end, quarterback and other spots. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
Teair Tart gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Xavier Worthy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 64 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A want over a need in the 95th overall pick: Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE while tight end, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Nehemiah Pritchett at the 131st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They did well to land Dylan Laube in Round 5, Pick 22, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.

Jaylan Ford at the 181st pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
A reach on Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick No. 242; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Decamerion Richardson at Round 7, Pick 32 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
