The Chiefs spent real capital to be 26 picks early on Darius Robinson, and the board is going to hold them to it. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The dealing was even money, start to finish.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Cooper Beebe at pick 70 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Darius Robinson at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Luke McCaffrey at the 133rd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 5, Pick 22; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Cody Schrader at par in slot 172, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Erick All in the 210th overall pick says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Donovan Jennings this early at the 250th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
