Every other box got a look, but quarterback did not. The Chiefs will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The Steven Nelson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braden Fiske. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in pick 95, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nehemiah Pritchett at slot 130 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Christian Jones in Round 4, Pick 33 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Dallin Holker in the 158th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Luke McCaffrey at No. 170 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They took Ty'Ron Hopper at par in the 172nd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
