For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Chiefs walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
The Guerendo reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Adonai Mitchell at par in Round 2, Pick 3, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at the 64th pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid a round early for Isaac Guerendo in the 98th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Fair-plus on Mohamed Kamara, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaheim Bell in slot 158 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kamal Hadden at pick No. 172 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
