Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chiefs were there to profit. Jarrian Jones, the No. 149 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 182. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A reach for T'Vondre Sweat in No. 34; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Xavier Worthy at the 64th overall pick is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They took Trey Benson at par in Round 3, Pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Christian Jones at slot 133 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Dallin Holker at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Luke McCaffrey at pick No. 172 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
You do not let a cornerback like Jarrian Jones reach the 182nd pick and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
