The Browns treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 6 slot on Dayon Hayes a full 103 spots early. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
The Strong value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Devin Singletary pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Bottom line, with Mason Graham leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a disruptive interior force, outstanding value to boot.
Tyler Warren slid further than he should have, and pick No. 33 is lovely value for the tight end. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in the 44th pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A minor itch, scratched.
Nice patience on TreVeyon Henderson, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Andrew Mukuba in No. 67 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Skattebo. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Will Howard in Round 4, Pick 2, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A slide stopped in the 155th pick, with Logan Brown worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Steal is underselling it; Darius Alexander at pick No. 165 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pat Bryant at No. 181 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value said wait; Dayon Hayes in the 194th overall pick says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Teddye Buchanan at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Circle this one: Dorian Strong at slot 216 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Seth McLaughlin at pick 217 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Jaydon Blue at No. 257 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
