The Cardinals did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Deontae Lawson fell into No. 155. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Reaching for Allar left real value on the table behind him. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 18th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value said wait; Earnest Greene III in Round 2, Pick 18 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Drew Allar at pick 82, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They liked Rylie Mills enough to skip the value, taking him in the 119th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Deontae Lawson in pick No. 155 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
