The Eagles treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 142nd pick on Deontae Lawson a full 27 spots early.
However the rest shakes out, Cook at that price is a win they earned. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Danny Stutsman at Round 2, Pick 25, and it noticed. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Blake Miller at the 86th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jalon Walker at No. 94 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They liked Rylie Mills enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 121. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value said wait; Deontae Lawson in slot 142 says they were not listening. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Cobee Bryant at slot 164 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A quarterback of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 25 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Ricky White III at pick No. 213, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Armand Membou in the 217th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
