They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Clark falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Sanders to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 2 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ja'Tavion Sanders this early at the Round 2 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick No. 40 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Edgerrin Cooper at the 67th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Tyler Davis at Round 3, Pick 37 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Khyree Jackson at the 102nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Isaiah Adams at No. 141 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Frank Gore Jr. higher than pick 181, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: De'Corian Clark still on the board at the 223rd overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
