The trade table was a mismatch, and the Eagles were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Fields. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. If Freeling pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Monroe Freeling in pick No. 11 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Eli Stowers at the 54th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the 68th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Malachi Fields in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
