Boards are made to be trusted, and the 49ers shredded theirs for Mikail Kamara. He came off 22 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Johnson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end, and a steal at that.
Good price on Chase Bisontis in slot 58, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Emmett Johnson at pick 127 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Mikail Kamara in the 133rd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kaleb Proctor at pick No. 138 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jakobe Thomas. A minor need, but a need all the same.
