The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Zion Logue, 42 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McCormick. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
A quiet steal in the 56th overall pick: Keon Coleman for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They liked Audric Estime enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 3 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Mason McCormick in Round 5, Pick 38 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Fair-plus on Drake Nugent, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nathaniel Watson in slot 233 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They talked themselves into Zion Logue at No. 244, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
