It is the swing that defines the weekend: Isaiah Davis in No. 212, a good 81 spots before the room expected him.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Sainristil.
There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Quinyon Mitchell in slot 62 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Blake Corum at pick No. 67 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Jack Sawyer at the 72nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No edge and no loss on Christian Mahogany in pick 81; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Zach Frazier went about where he belonged in the 93rd pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Davis at Round 4, Pick 1, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had cheaper options than Jordan Travis at pick No. 130, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Fair-plus on Tykee Smith, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Mohamed Kamara at pick 138 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
