The search is over. The Falcons handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Tagovailoa pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They are betting Bell proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Guyton in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid a round early for Mike Sainristil in pick 74, more than the board wanted. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
McKinnley Jackson in No. 75 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Jaheim Bell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Jarrian Jones was still sitting there in pick No. 145, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Aki Ogunbiyi in the 189th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Christian Jones in the 201st overall pick, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taulia Tagovailoa in pick No. 244 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
