If confidence were a draft strategy, the Falcons would have aced it. Fa'alili Fa'amoe at pick 215 is 41 spots clear of where he belonged.
Landing Hunter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Zachariah Branch in the 57th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Lee Hunter at No. 79 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in the 89th pick, with Davison Igbinosun worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A reach on Harold Perkins Jr. in Round 4, Pick 22; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on John Michael Gyllenborg. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
