The search is over. The Falcons handed the keys to Michael Penix Jr., and the whole operation now runs on his development. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Muhammad III falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 41 with a little surplus value in Chris Braswell. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Xavier Worthy at Round 3, Pick 9 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Junior Colson at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Mohamed Kamara at the 146th pick is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Moose Muhammad III in No. 187 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Roger Rosengarten in slot 206. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jordan Magee slid further than he should have, and pick 230 is lovely value for the linebacker. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow BJ Mayes was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
