They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Zion Tupuola-Fetui, 69 picks early at the Round 4 slot. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. That Simpson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. The biggest hole, addressed.
Brandon Dorlus in pick 43 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Brenden Rice at slot 74 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
LaDarius Henderson at the 145th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jaylin Simpson at No. 189 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid sticker price for Josh Proctor in No. 201, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at pick No. 244 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
