Nobody had Spencer Rattler this high, and it is not close. The Raiders reached 33 spots to get him at Round 3, Pick 23. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The McGlothern value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Fair-plus on Tyler Guyton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on Payton Wilson in slot 46, and the value did not follow. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
By-the-book stuff, Braden Fiske at Round 2, Pick 19 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick 60 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid a round early for Trey Benson in pick No. 77, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
They paid up for Khyree Jackson at the Round 3 slot when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Spencer Rattler in pick 86, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in Round 3, Pick 24 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Theo Johnson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in pick No. 123, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mohamed Kamara in the 126th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Elijah Jones slid further than he should have, and No. 127 is lovely value for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the Round 4 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in the 174th pick, where Dwight McGlothern graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tyler Owens at the Round 7 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Bub Means at the 247th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
