The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

On value alone, Proctor makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.8 · Pick 8 · Caleb Williams · QB · rank 2
In slot 8 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 35
No edge and no loss on Chop Robinson in pick 36; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 40
Tyler Guyton in the 37th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Ladd McConkey · WR · rank 33
Ladd McConkey at Round 2, Pick 8 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 50
They paid sticker price for Graham Barton in No. 46, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 71
By-the-book stuff, Junior Colson at the 67th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Jonathon Brooks · RB · rank 61
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Jonathon Brooks for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.10 · Pick 74 · Gabriel Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 83
Gabriel Murphy at pick No. 74 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Caelen Carson · CB · rank 85
Caelen Carson at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 94
They let Zak Zinter come to them and pounced at the 103rd pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.2 · Pick 138 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 145
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ben Sinnott. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 183
Jaylan Ford in the 181st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R6.45 · Pick 220 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 197
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Josh Proctor in No. 220, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
