Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Cardinals spent pick 114 on Brady Cook, a name most had 130 spots down the list. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Walker pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 16 they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Armand Membou in the Round 2 slot, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taking Jalon Walker in slot 78 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Brady Cook in pick No. 114 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Howard Cross III in Round 5, Pick 14; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
