You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Chiefs spent slot 74 on Treydan Stukes while quarterback and edge rusher sat unaddressed. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Zuhn III reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get a sticky cover corner. More want than need.
In the 29th pick they get a true top target at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A conviction pick on Gennings Dunker at the Round 2 slot that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A surprising call. With quarterback and edge rusher still to address, they spent pick No. 74 on Treydan Stukes, a cornerback they were not short of.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trey Zuhn III. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Kaytron Allen in Round 5, Pick 8, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in No. 169 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dae'Quan Wright at slot 176 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Bobby Jamison-Travis at the 210th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
