The Bobby Jamison-Travis pick is the one that will follow the Chiefs into the fall. They took him 36 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The Elarms-Orr pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 9 they get a ballhawk on the outside. More want than need.
In the 29th pick they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Somehow Sonny Styles was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Derrick Moore in pick 74 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A premium they did not need to pay, Trey Zuhn III a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Matt Gulbin well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Aamil Wagner at par in slot 169, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bobby Jamison-Travis in pick No. 176, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in the 210th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
