You build a draft on nights like this. Jonah Coleman had no business being available in slot 109, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The Graves pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get a building block for the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chris Brazzell II in slot 29 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on D'Angelo Ponds in pick 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Omar Cooper Jr. in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Jonah Coleman at the 109th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Kaleb Proctor in Round 5, Pick 8 says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Aaron Graves at the 169th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Matt Gulbin in pick No. 176, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Zavion Thomas at slot 210 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
