Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Coleman: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Jonah Coleman had no business being available in slot 109, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

The Graves pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.9 · Pick 9 · Francis Mauigoa · OT · rank 6
In No. 9 they get a building block for the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.29 · Pick 29 · Chris Brazzell II · WR · rank 29
Chris Brazzell II in slot 29 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · D'Angelo Ponds · CB · rank 47
No edge and no loss on D'Angelo Ponds in pick 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.10 · Pick 74 · Omar Cooper Jr. · WR · rank 55
Omar Cooper Jr. in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Jonah Coleman · RB · rank 67
They will replay Jonah Coleman at the 109th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.8 · Pick 148 · Kaleb Proctor · DL · rank 167
Value said wait; Kaleb Proctor in Round 5, Pick 8 says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.29 · Pick 169 · Aaron Graves · DT · rank 198
Aaron Graves at the 169th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.36 · Pick 176 · Matt Gulbin · C · rank 178
They paid sticker price for Matt Gulbin in pick No. 176, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.29 · Pick 210 · Zavion Thomas · WR · rank 216
By-the-book stuff, Zavion Thomas at slot 210 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
