Thirty-one other rooms let Isaac Guerendo slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at the 169th overall pick. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Knight has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Brian Thomas Jr. at No. 41. The roster fit checks out.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Payton Wilson in the 58th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Jaden Hicks slipping to Round 3, Pick 25 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Elijah Jones was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Isaac Guerendo in the 169th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Jaylan Ford at slot 202 squarely in line with his ranking. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Value with a capital V on Drake Nugent in slot 219, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
They paid up for Tyrice Knight at No. 245 when waiting would have done the job. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Ryan Watts at Round 7, Pick 35 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
