You build a draft on nights like this. Ja'Kobi Lane had no business being available in the 127th pick, and the 49ers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The cost of the Endries reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Gabe Jacas in slot 57 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
They did well to land Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick No. 58, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jake Slaughter at the 60th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Chase Bisontis in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jack Endries at pick 103 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Darrell Jackson Jr. at Round 4, Pick 5, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Ja'Kobi Lane at No. 127 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
