The Packers put a flag in the ground for Frank Gore Jr., 30 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Corcoran. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, T.J. Tampa went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 9. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Patrick Paul in pick 57 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Tykee Smith in pick No. 88, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Zak Zinter in the 92nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Junior Colson worth more than the price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They talked themselves into Frank Gore Jr. at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Akheem Mesidor at the 203rd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached a country mile for Ja'Had Carter at the 217th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Turner Corcoran slid further than he should have, and No. 219 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Erick All at slot 246 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
