Some picks age like wine; Derrick Moore at slot 94 will need to, sitting 33 spots clear of his grade. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. It is not that Moore is a bad player; it is that the Cowboys had louder needs to answer first.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 30 they get a three-down runner at fair value. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Kaimon Rucker in the 62nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A want over a need in pick No. 94: Derrick Moore adds an edge rusher while wide receiver, cornerback and other spots keeps waiting.
Bear Alexander in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Akheem Mesidor at pick 158, and it noticed. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Shawn Murphy at the 190th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached into another round for Deontae Lawson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
