The Packers torched the value chart for Hayden Hatten, taking him 67 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The back end got a real overhaul.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good price on Kamren Kinchens in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Christian Haynes in the 57th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyler Davis at Round 3, Pick 25 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached a country mile for Tyrice Knight at pick 91, and the board is aghast. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Max Melton. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Christian Jones at slot 203 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
A reach on Steele Chambers in No. 217; the board had better options right there. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Marcus Harris in pick No. 219 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Hayden Hatten. The roster fit checks out.
