The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Vidal: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Kimani Vidal at the 243rd pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Taliese Fuaga · OT · rank 17
In pick 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 30
Tyler Nubin at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 44
They read the board right and Kris Jenkins was the payoff at pick No. 57. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Malachi Corley · WR · rank 76
Malachi Corley slipping to No. 88 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 78
Christian Mahogany is a better player than Round 3, Pick 28 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 123
Nothing to complain about; Sataoa Laumea went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · LaDarius Henderson · OT · rank 169
They took LaDarius Henderson at par in the 168th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Chau Smith-Wade · CB · rank 168
The board fumbled Chau Smith-Wade all the way to the 203rd overall pick, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 183
They will replay Jaylan Ford at pick 216 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 200
You do not let a running back like Kimani Vidal reach the 243rd pick and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Isaiah Neyor · WR · rank 233
Taking Isaiah Neyor in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
