There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cardinals took Aireontae Ersery a full 31 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. However the rest shakes out, Booker at that price is a win they earned. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
They talked themselves into Aireontae Ersery at slot 16, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They read the board right and Tyler Booker was the payoff at the 47th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Carson Schwesinger at pick No. 78 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A wild overpay on Kyren Lacy in No. 114, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Vernon Broughton at the 153rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
