They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Cooper Beebe, 25 picks early at the Round 2 slot. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Jones to cover a lot of smaller sins.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st pick they get a long-term starter on the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Cooper Beebe at Round 2, Pick 21 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy little value on T'Vondre Sweat in pick No. 63, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 158th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Ethan Driskell in No. 186 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Josh Proctor is a better player than pick 199 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Taking Sheridan Jones in the 242nd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
