This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Carson Schwesinger, the No. 128 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 217. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Emeka Egbuka slid further than he should have, and pick 38 is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jihaad Campbell at pick No. 69 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Donovan Jackson. It fills a real need, too.
Omarr Norman-Lott slipping to Round 3, Pick 17 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Elijah Arroyo at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Carson Schwesinger at the 217th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Ollie Gordon II in No. 220 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Seth McLaughlin, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 6. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and Jackson Hawes was the payoff at the 238th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
