You build a draft on nights like this. Kevin Winston Jr. had no business being available in the 165th pick, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The Cypress II pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.
The Texans indulged a want in Castro while a need in running back, edge rusher and other spots stayed open.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Tyleik Williams at Round 2, Pick 19, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A conviction pick on Omarr Norman-Lott at pick 58 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

Xavier Watts at the 85th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.

The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 126th overall pick on Sebastian Castro with running back, edge rusher and other spots unsolved.
You do not let a safety like Kevin Winston Jr. reach pick No. 165 and blink. They did not. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
