You build a draft on nights like this. Marist Liufau had no business being available in Round 5, Pick 32, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. With quarterback, wide receiver and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kris Jenkins at the 41st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kamren Kinchens. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They took Dominick Puni at par in slot 88, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Blake Corum come to them and pounced at No. 91. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the Round 4 slot leaves quarterback, wide receiver and other spots for later.
They robbed the room for Marist Liufau here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
