The Que Robinson pick is the one that will follow the Patriots into the fall. They took him 43 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, with Jahdae Barron leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Aireontae Ersery in pick No. 44 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Donovan Ezeiruaku at the 45th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaylin Noel is a better player than No. 69 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Que Robinson at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They did well to land Jordan Hancock in slot 220, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Jermari Harris in pick 228, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Ja'Corey Brooks at the 237th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
