After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Guyton at slot 34 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Malachi Corley come to them and pounced at pick No. 68. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Bucky Irving went about where he belonged in the 92nd pick. The roster fit checks out.
The board had Cam Hart higher than the Round 4 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dylan Laube in No. 163. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jarrian Jones in the 182nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Josh Proctor slid further than he should have, and the Round 7 slot is lovely value for the safety. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Daijahn Anthony in slot 247 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
