The Phillip Webb pick is the one that will follow the Cowboys into the fall. They took him 152 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Milroe falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Matthew Golden at slot 12 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach on TreVeyon Henderson in the 44th pick; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Jared Wilson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jalen Milroe in No. 150 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nazir Stackhouse. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Phillip Webb in pick 172 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 174 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for RJ Harvey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Teddye Buchanan at the 211th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good price on Hunter Wohler in slot 249, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor itch, scratched.
