Thirty-one other rooms let Marcus Mbow slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at the 89th pick. Highway robbery.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Golden lower, and that gap is the story.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Matthew Golden at No. 25 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reach on Deone Walker in the 58th pick; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Marcus Mbow still on the board at the Round 3 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Malachi Moore at slot 127 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jabbar Muhammad at pick 167 is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 243 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
