Nobody else had Wesley Bissainthe anywhere near the 228th pick. The Jets did, by 57 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

That Sarratt pick is the receipt they will wave around later. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.2 · Pick 2 · Arvell Reese · LB · rank 7
Arvell Reese at No. 2 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
R1.16 · Pick 16 · Olaivavega Ioane · OG · rank 22
In the 16th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
R2.1 · Pick 33 · Caleb Banks · DL · rank 41
Caleb Banks at slot 33 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Brandon Cisse · CB · rank 36
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 12: Brandon Cisse for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Daylen Everette · CB · rank 81
They robbed the room for Daylen Everette here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Zakee Wheatley · S · rank 86
They barely believed it either: Zakee Wheatley still on the board at the Round 4 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Elijah Sarratt · WR · rank 77
Elijah Sarratt in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.39 · Pick 179 · Drew Allar · QB · rank 156
You do not let a quarterback like Drew Allar reach the 179th pick and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.12 · Pick 228 · Wesley Bissainthe · LB · rank 285
Wesley Bissainthe in the 228th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R7.26 · Pick 242 · J. Michael Sturdivant · WR · rank 276
J. Michael Sturdivant at pick No. 242 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
