Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Eagles spent the Round 4 slot on Jaylon Braxton, a name the board had a full 200 spots lower. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Stowers. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
A big swing on Zachariah Branch at slot 23, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had Zion Young higher than Round 2, Pick 22, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Anthony Lucas in No. 68 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Vincent Anthony Jr. at the 98th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A real head-scratcher, Jaylon Braxton in the 114th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Le'Veon Moss at pick No. 137 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jakobe Thomas is a better player than pick No. 153 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Eli Stowers in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Matt Gulbin in pick 197 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
