The tape said wait; the Giants did not. Samson Okunlola went at Round 1, Pick 5, a good 399 picks before the board was ready. The final tally is a middling C-.
Landing Coleman that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on Emmanuel Pregnon in the 37th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Deion Burks at pick No. 105 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kyle Louis at No. 145 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
Domani Jackson in slot 186 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Sam Roush at the 192nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A running back of that caliber at pick No. 193 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
