The tape said wait; the Jets did not. Isaiah Jatta went at the 103rd pick, a good 165 picks before the board was ready.
The Farmer value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Drew Allar gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Hit on Drew Allar and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a rangy last line of defense. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 16 they get a franchise quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Arvell Reese at the 33rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Nothing to complain about; Chris Bell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They talked themselves into Isaiah Jatta at the 103rd pick, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Chris McClellan in pick 140 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Jalen Farmer in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
They jumped the gun on Brent Austin, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Zavion Thomas slid further than he should have, and the 242nd pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
