The board owed the Titans one, and it paid up: D'Angelo Ponds, the No. 48 name on the board, sitting there at pick 142 like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Every board in the league had Catalon lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Peter Woods · DT · rank 30
In No. 4 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Jeremiyah Love · RB · rank 2
The board fumbled Jeremiyah Love all the way to pick 35, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 134
A big swing on Harold Perkins Jr. at pick No. 66, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Bryce Lance · WR · rank 96
Fair-plus on Bryce Lance, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.2 · Pick 142 · D'Angelo Ponds · CB · rank 48
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 142 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.4 · Pick 144 · Kage Casey · OT · rank 161
A conviction pick on Kage Casey at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.3 · Pick 184 · Marlin Klein · TE · rank 159
Somehow Marlin Klein was still sitting there in the 184th pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.13 · Pick 194 · Febechi Nwaiwu · OG · rank 178
Febechi Nwaiwu at Round 6, Pick 13 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.9 · Pick 225 · Jalen Catalon · S · rank 303
A wild overpay on Jalen Catalon in pick No. 225, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
