The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jake Majors, pick No. 168, roughly 73 picks past where he belonged.
The McCord pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get a centerpiece for the ground game, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy bit of business in the 45th overall pick, where Kenneth Grant graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Jihaad Campbell in No. 76 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They will replay Danny Stutsman at slot 151 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: Jake Majors still on the board at the Round 5 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Billy Bowman Jr. in the 170th pick, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Brashard Smith at pick 171 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kyle McCord in Round 6, Pick 15 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Antonio Williams at No. 209, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
