You can hear the double-takes from here. The Dolphins took LaDarius Henderson at the 184th pick, roughly 69 spots before his name belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Williams value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
On the needs board they went 2 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get juice off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Bralen Trice in the 56th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached into another round for Drake Nugent, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
A real head-scratcher, LaDarius Henderson in slot 184 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
C.J. Hanson at pick 198 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Evan Williams in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
